The Tripp Trapp® Baby Set is an accessory which can be attached to the chair, allowing it to accommodate a child between 6 months and 36 months of age. It is possible for the child to outgrow this accessory before 36 months, as each child's growth is individual.
The Baby Set consists of two separate parts, including a plastic backrest which must be attached to the back laminates of the chair, as well as a plastic front rail which can be attached once the backrest is already in position. It's important that the seat plate of the Tripp Trapp® is correctly assembled with the instructions stated within the User Guide, because the Baby Set cannot be assembled properly if the seat plate is not in the highest possible groove and the seat plate depth is less than 6 cm or more than 7 cm. The optimal seat plate depth is 7 cm to ensure that there is no tension within the Baby Set plastic parts which could end up damaging the chair. Incorrect assembly of the seat plate while using the Baby Set can cause damage to the area surrounding the hole of the seat plate, as well as the upper back laminate if also using the Tray. The warranty does not cover damages caused by incorrect assembly, as the User Guide offers detailed information on how to assemble the chair when using the Baby Set.
The Baby Set is designed to be used with the Stokke® Harness, which serves as an additional safety accessory. While the Baby Set offers a secure railing for the child so they remain safely in the central seated position, it is the Stokke® Harness which is designed to ensure that children are not able to stand up while strapped in. The Stokke® Harness attaches from the bottom of the Baby Set backrest, allowing the child to still explore their surroundings, while being designed to pull them back down if they attempt to stand or start climbing out.
The Stokke® Harness is a 5-point harness which can be released using just one click. It if you are experiencing that the intended one press of the button is not releasing all the straps with one click, it is possible you might be pressing the button on one side which then only releases the straps from that side. Ensure that you press the button in the middle to release all the straps or hold it pressed while moving the pressure to both sides to release.
In most markets globally, the Baby Set and Harness are sold as two separate accessories. It is possible to use the Baby Set without the Harness, but it is not possible to use the Harness without the Baby Set, as the Harness attaches directly to the Baby Set. That being said, the decision to use either just the Baby Set or to also purchase the additional Harness for additional safety is for each parent to decide. Stokke® would recommend purchasing both for maximum safety, though the original Stokke® philosophy is to allow as much freedom to the child as possible.
Please note that the child should never be left unattended, even if they are strapped in within the Baby Set. The Baby Set & Harness are not to be treated as a babysitter, as children can always do something unpredictable.
Customers in US, Canada and Australia will notice that the Baby Set and Harness come together in one package. While customers in most parts of the world are able to choose to buy either just the Baby Set or both the Baby Set and Harness together, our customers in the aforementioned countries can only buy these two parts together due to regulatory requirements in these regions.
