There have been several types of cushions available for the Tripp Trapp® to suit the needs of its user. Our Tripp Trapp® collection has included the:
- Classic Cushion, also known simply as Cushion
- Baby Cushion
- Junior Cushion
- Adult Cushion
The Classic Cushion has been a part of the Stokke collection since the 90s and is the most dynamic option we offer for the Tripp Trapp®. It is a set of 2 cushions, which can be used in two ways. One cushion will always go on the seat plate of the chair, with a hole to also allow usage of the Baby Set, whereas the other cushion placement will depend on whether or not the Baby Set is used. If the Baby Set is used, it will go over the backrest of the Baby Set with its integrated pocket. If the chair is used without the Baby Set, the Classic Cushion can be placed over the backrest of the chair, which means the product has quite a long lifetime, as it can theoretically be used from when the child is 6 months with the Baby Set, all the way until they're a tall teenager that no longer has use for the seat plate and graduates to the foot plate as the primary Tripp Trapp® seat.
The Classic Cushion is a Tripp Trapp® accessory staple and new color patterns are released regularly to keep a fresh variety available. This however also means that certain colors may get discontinued after a certain time. It is likely the one accessory product at Stokke which has cycled through more color patterns than any other Stokke products. Users of the Classic Cushion may notice that some colour patterns have a different feel. If you read the description of any cushion, you may find reference to water-repellent fabrics. We use an easy-wipe coating on our cushions, which is PFC-free, fluorine-free and has no DWR chemical treatments, by using Rudolf Bionic Eco Finish.
The Baby Cushion was launched in 2017 and is a single piece cushion which could be placed over the Baby Set, to create a comfortable seat for the child. It offered comfort for the seat as well as for the back, with a small hole in the back to allow for a harness to be able to come through. The Baby Cushion could only be used with the Baby Set.
The Junior Cushion was launched in 2017 and is a single piece cushion which goes over the seat plate. The Junior Cushion does not have any hole to allow usage with the Baby Set, which means only kids over the age of 3 will benefit from it. The inner side of the Junior Cushion has anti-slip strips to keep it in place and compared to the Classic Cushion which also has a seat cushion, the Junior Cushion is thicker and softer in comparison, to support the larger weight of children that the Junior Cushion is meant for.
The Adult Cushion was launched in 2018 and is a single piece cushion which goes over the foot plate. This is the only cushion for the Tripp Trapp® which is meant for the foot plate and it is not to keep the feet comfortable, but rather to allow for the larger foot plate to be used as the primary seat of the Tripp Trapp® instead of the seat plate. The foot plate can be used as the primary seat of the chair if the user has legs long enough to reach the floor while seated on the foot plate, which is why this cushion is called the Adult Cushion.
