Tripp Trapp® Chair V1 (ca. 1972 - April 2003)
Special features:
- Only available in color "Natural".
- There was a small wooden gap on both sides of the legs, positioned between the two back laminates, which enabled using a wooden front rail with a leather crotch strap.
- Chairs produced prior to 2001 are generally not serialized, but you may find stamps with numbers underneath one of the legs.
- Gap between back laminates (measured from the sides of the legs) was 2.5 cm / 0.98 inches.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- An older version of Extended Gliders can be used - search for item number 150403 on the website to find these.
- Only compatible with the original wooden front rail & leather crotch strap, which are no longer being produced.
- Present-day accessories, such as the Newborn Set, Baby Set & Harness, Tray, Storage, Cushions cannot be used due to the back laminate gap being 2.5 cm / 0.98 inches, because modern accessories interact with the gap between the two back laminates.
Tripp Trapp® Chair V2 (May 2003 - October 2011; in US/CA* June 2006 - October 2011)
*The Tripp Trapp® was officially brought to the North American markets in 2006.
Special features & change log:
- Painted options were introduced to extend the range beyond just "Natural".
- Chairs became consistently serialized, with the serial number found underneath the right leg of the chair.
- Back laminate size changed, making them smaller.
- This directly also affects the size of the slots in the legs which accommodate the back laminates.
- Gap between back laminates (measured from the sides of the legs) was 3.5 cm / 1.38 inches.
- This change was made due to regulatory reasons.
- The groove positions on the legs which determine seat and foot plate height from the ground were changed.
- Special edition limited to UK and France between 2003-2006: Chairs with high curved wooden backrests were available only in these markets.
- Some of these units may even be Tripp Trapp® Chair V1 instead of V2. Please ensure that you measure the gap between the back laminates to see if it is 2.5 cm or 3.5 cm to determine the version you have.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- An older version of Extended Gliders can be used - search for item number 150403 on the website to find these.
- Compatible with the original wooden front rail & leather crotch strap, which are no longer being produced.
- Present-day accessories, such as the Newborn Set, Baby Set & Harness, Tray, Storage, Cushions can be used.
- Some exceptions apply for the special edition high curved backrest Tripp Trapp® Chair sold in the UK and France between 2003-2006.
Tripp Trapp® Chair V3 (November 2011 - May 2013)
Special features & change log:
- The small wooden gap on the back laminates was removed, meaning newer versions could not longer use the original wooden front rail and leather crotch strap.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- An older version of Extended Gliders can be used - search for item number 150403 on the website to find these.
- Due to the removal of the wooden gap, the original wooden front rail & leather crotch strap can no longer be used on future Tripp Trapp® Chairs.
- Only present-day accessories, such as the Newborn Set, Baby Set & Harness, Tray, Storage, Cushions can be used.
Tripp Trapp® Chair V4 (June 2013 -)
Special features & change log:
- The old plastic Gliders underneath the chair which protect the floor & chair were updated in not just color, but also design. The new Gliders are Black. Older pre-2013 Tripp Trapp® Chairs used Gliders which were either Beige or White.
- The color applies to both the front and rear Gliders, but the design only impacts the rear Gliders. The design of the new front Gliders is actually the same as what was previously used on both the old front and rear Gliders. This means that technically, for users of older chairs, it would be sufficient to purchase two sets of front Gliders to replace the entire set of Gliders on an older chair.
- The new black rear Gliders have a different design and allow attaching the newly released version of Extended Gliders by simply sliding them on like slippers. This makes it incredibly convenient, as the older version of Extended Gliders had to be screwed into the Tripp Trapp®.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- The newer version of Extended Gliders can be used. These are included with every purchase of the Baby Set or Newborn Set in the corresponding plastic color of the aforementioned accessories.
- Only present-day accessories, such as the Newborn Set, Baby Set & Harness, Tray, Storage, Cushions can be used.
