This article is only relevant for those that have a Baby Set & Harness purchased within the US and Canada markets.
The Tripp Trapp® product line was introduced to the North American markets in 2006 and local regulatory requirements created the need for US/CA country versions to be released in order for the Tripp Trapp® Chair to be usable also with children under the age of 3. The existing accessories for the Tripp Trapp® related to child safety were not compliant with local regulations and required tweaks to be made. Until the release of compliant accessories to facilitate this, the Tripp Trapp® Chair was only considered to be safe to use as long as the person is older than 3 years.
Tripp Trapp® Baby Set & Harness V0 (June 2006 - July 2008)
Special features:
- A plastic backrest was launched globally for all versions of the Baby Set and a front rail made of ABS was used exclusively in the US/CA markets (only available in White). This backrest attached to the back laminates of the Chair, using a total of 4 small hooks to latch onto both back laminates - using 2 for each back laminate.
- The US version of the plastic backrest was slightly different, as it included a recess for the central Harness clip and a small hole, to allow for the Harness straps to come through to the front where the chils sits.
- The rest of the world continued using the wooden front rail and leather crotch strap.
- The Harness was technically separate from the Baby Set, but the design of the Baby Set made it clear that both should be used.
- The back straps of the Harness needed to go on the lower back laminate of the chair, followed by screwing the Harness into the back laminate for added stability. It would then be stabilized by the recess and hole found on the Baby Set.
- The crotch strap attached directly to the seat plate with a large bulky plastic clip to secure it into place.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- Can be used with any Tripp Trapp® Chair sold in US/CA since June 2006.
- Can be used with any WW (worldwide) version Tripp Trapp® Chair made since May 2003, as long as it is not a special edition with the high curved Back which was most commonly sold in UK and France.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Classic Cushion (US/CA version only), Junior Cushion and Adult Cushion.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Storage.
- Cannot be used with the Stokke® Tray.

Tripp Trapp® Baby Set & Harness V2 (August 2011 - May 2012)
Special features & change log:
- The curvature of the plastic front rail was changed by increasing the size of the curve, therefore allowing larger babies to be seated longer. Additionally, this allowed the newly launched Tray to be attached.
- The front rail piece where the Baby Set attaches between the back laminates of the chair has a V2 symbol. If there is no V-symbol, it means it is a V1.

Tripp Trapp® Baby Set & Harness V3 (June 2012 - November 2018)
Special features & change log:
- Small extra ribs were implemented to prevent incorrect and unsafe front rail assembly.
- The Harness crotch strap clip design changed.
- The previous bulky white clip was phased out and a small white user-friendly plastic clip with the crotch strap was implemented instead, which was very easy to attach. However, if ever removed, it would not be safe to reuse this clip anymore.
- Removal of this clip required pliers and customers needed to take care when removing it (if really necessary), as improper removal could cause cosmetic damage to the seat plate.
- The previous bulky white clip was phased out and a small white user-friendly plastic clip with the crotch strap was implemented instead, which was very easy to attach. However, if ever removed, it would not be safe to reuse this clip anymore.

Tripp Trapp® Baby Set V4 (December 2018 - June 2024)
Special features & change log:
- Despite being designed to be used together with obvious design choices implying this, previous versions of the Baby Set & Harness had all components separated and it was technically possible to use the Baby Set without the Harness, the Harness without the Baby Set, or to use both the Baby Set and Harness. Due to regulatory changes, the components had to be designed in a way to only allow usage of the Baby Set & Harness as a pair.
- The bulk of the Harness was incorporated into the plastic backrest of the Baby Set and no longer attached from the back laminate of the chair.
- Removal of the Harness for washing purposes was technically possible, but very difficult to remove and even more difficult to reattach. Despite being possible to remove the Harness, there was no way of attaching it to the chair to use it without the Baby Set.
- The crotch strap of the Harness was incorporated with a white plastic clip into the front rail of the Baby Set seat rail.
- Safe removal of the crotch strap from the Baby Set front rail was impossible. Users who attempted to remove the white clip keeping the crotch strap attached to the seat rail quickly found out that they had broken the product and such misuse was not covered by warranty.
- The front rail piece where the Baby Set attaches between the back laminates of the chair has a V4 symbol.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- Can be used with any Tripp Trapp® Chair sold in US/CA since June 2006.
- Can be used as long there are no white clips attached to the seat plate from previous Baby Set & Harness bundles.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Tray.
Tripp Trapp® Baby Set² & Harness² (July 2024 -)
Special features & change log:
- Slots for the Harness² to attach directly to the Baby Set² were implemented, ensuring that you need the Baby Set² in order to use the Harness² in a safety-guided effort to prevent users attempting to use just the Harness² without any version Baby Set.
- Removal of the Harness² is possible to allow for easier detachment for cleaning purposes.
- Instead of the backrest using 2 hooks on the top back laminate and 2 hooks on the bottom back laminate, two long hooks were implemented instead - one long hook latches onto the top back laminate and the other long hook latches onto the bottom back laminate.
- 2 storage slots for Allen keys were implemented onto the back of the backrest, so they can be safely stored while the Baby Set² is installed.
- The buckle design was changed into a one-click release, making it easier for parents to get their child out in case of emergency, though the Harness² itself has remained as a 5-point Harness.
- The front rail piece where the Baby Set attaches between the back laminates of the chair has a V2 symbol with model number 1055259.
Compatibility and incompatibility:
- Can be used with any Tripp Trapp® Chair sold in US/CA since June 2006.
- Can be used as long there are no white clips attached to the seat plate from previous Baby Set & Harness bundles.
- Can be used with any WW (worldwide) version Tripp Trapp® Chair made since May 2003, as long as it is not a special edition with the high curved Back which was most commonly sold in UK and France.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Classic Cushion, Junior Cushion and Adult Cushion.
- The old US/CA version has two central holes for the Harness which are no longer required for the updated Baby Set² & Harness². While fully compatible, the newer / global version Classic Cushion provides a better aesthetic fit.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Storage.
- Can be used with the Stokke® Tray.
